about the artist

I live and work in the Waterfront Historic District of New Bedford, Massachusetts. A lifelong woodworker, I began my artistic career in 1995, and earned a Masters in Fine Arts in sculpture from UMass, Dartmouth (1999). I sell and exhibit my work throughout the country, creating unique wood sculptures on commission and in pursuit of my creative goals. I guest lecture at colleges and universities, and welcome visitors to my street level studio in an 1820 warehouse in the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.

recognition

I've been twice featured on CBS News Sunday Morning, and presented solo exhibits at Rockefeller Plaza and the University of Connecticut. My solo sculpture exhibit, body image | body essence, traveled to 17 cities across the United States, and has been permanently installed at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA.

I received the Terra Nova Award from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth for breaking new ground with art; and the Teal Ribbon Award from OvaranCancerAwareness.org for my work raising awareness of ovarian cancer.

Together with my late wife, Mary, I published the catalog body image | body essence, Viewing Ovarian Cancer Through the Art of Sculpture.
